Looking back I’ve come along way, from being an international showjumper at the age of 12, travelling the world and giving up every normal thing a “regular” kid would be doing.
It’s been an amazing ride, but also a rocky one. As I grew older, I noticed that I was pushing myself to certain limits and over particular boundaries and it made me realize that that is not what life is about. For me, it’s following up on your passion. It requires a certain mindfulness to stay in touch with yourself and what you and your body need.
Due to some physical setbacks I couldn’t ride as much as I desired and I decided to focus on finishing my law degree at the University of Amsterdam. When I graduated I still didn’t feel whole and I knew my calling was not being a lawyer of any kind. As I have always been surrounded by athletes, and having been one myself, nutrition, being fit and staying on the top of your game was very much a priority. My mom is like a health encyclopedia herself, it wouldn’t surprise me if she knows more than my physician, travelling the world to find the best acupuncturist, not taking no or yes for an answer of anyone and always doing her own research on any topic. During my physical setbacks I got drawn to nutrition even more and I noticed you can’t give all the credits to everything you decide to put into your body. It’s emotional awareness and wellbeing in combination with good nutrition what makes us feel whole.
By having practiced a top sport for years I have gained a lot of affinity with pure food and conscious life. To me nutrition is the greatest form of medicine and I’ve seen the effects of good nutrition. In the meantime, my knowledge has only become more and more, and I have linked the necessary studies to it. Of course, I’ve been experimenting with different therapies, supplements, techniques and am always looking for improvement and renewal. I’ve always focused on my own wellbeing, but also the wellbeing of my horses and that has brought me so much. At the moment I coach people with different goals such as living healthier, losing weight or gaining weight in a healthy way, becoming more fit and less tired and last but not least I help them to live more consciously. The latter goes beyond nutrition alone and I like to look in a holistic way at manifesting a healthier life. To me, feeding of the body and soul is the basis for this.
